Please help me install and set up "Oxblood" from veered.org on my own computer or server. What it is: PDF signer: draw or type your signature, place it with the date, download the signed copy. It runs on: Any web browser: nothing to install, and the PDF never leaves your computer. Project page: https://veered.org/pdf-signer/ Source code download (zip): https://veered.org/pdf-signer/oxblood-pdf-signer.zip How I'd like you to help: 1. First ask me what you need to know: my operating system and version, my desktop environment if it matters, whether I'm comfortable with the terminal, and any accounts or hardware this project needs. 2. Then take me through it one step at a time. For each command, say briefly what it does, and wait for me to paste back the result before moving on. 3. Before any step that changes system settings, uses sudo, or edits an existing configuration file, tell me, and have me make a backup first. 4. If something fails, help me work out why. If the instructions below don't fit my system, say so rather than guessing. 5. At the end, show me how to check that it works, and how to uninstall it. The project is shared as-is by its author, with no warranty. If we find a problem in the project itself, please help me write a short, clear note I can send to support@veered.org. Here is the project's documentation (README files from the download): ===== README.md ===== # PDF Signer (Oxblood): sign a PDF in your browser Oxblood is a one-page PDF signer. You open a PDF, draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad or finger (or type it), click where it goes, add the date, and download the signed copy. The work happens in your browser: the document, your signature and the result are never uploaded. ![The signer with a drawn signature and the date placed on a sample assignment](docs/screenshot.png) **Try it:** open `index.html` from any web server (`python3 -m http.server`), or add `?demo` to the address to load a sample document. ## What it does - **Drawn signatures** are written into the PDF as smooth vector strokes in blue or black ink. No image is embedded, so they stay sharp at any zoom and add only a few kilobytes. - **Typed signatures** have an optional USPTO /S/ mode. It insists the signer types the slashes themselves (`/Jane Q. Inventor/`), as 37 CFR 1.4(d)(2) requires; it never adds them. - **Date and free text** (a printed name, a title) can be placed anywhere, in four date formats. - **Placement:** click to place, drag to move, pull the corner to resize (the proportions are kept), and press Delete or × to remove. - **Fillable forms** are flattened on request, so the answers typed into a USPTO form are locked into the page before it is filed. - **Coordinates:** rotated and offset pages are handled. Items are kept in page coordinates and converted with the pdf.js viewport. It uses [pdf.js](https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/) to show the pages and [pdf-lib](https://pdf-lib.js.org/) to write the copy. Both load from cdnjs. There is no build step and no server code. ## What it is not It gives no certificate-based digital signature, keeps no audit trail and checks no identity. It puts your mark on the page, nothing more. Whether a drawn or typed electronic signature is acceptable is up to the rules that govern the document. ## Name Oxblood is the dark red of old sealing wax, the way documents were signed and sealed before ink signatures were enough. MIT License. ----- For Claude Code users ----- Download https://veered.org/pdf-signer/oxblood-pdf-signer.zip, unzip it into a new folder, read every README.md in it, and help me install and set up "Oxblood" (PDF signer: draw or type your signature, place it with the date, download the signed copy) on this machine. Check the requirements against this system first and tell me what is missing. Ask me before running anything with sudo, installing packages, or changing existing configuration files, and back those files up first. Finish by showing me how to test it and how to uninstall it.
